Those arguments are worth having. But underneath them, something less dramatic happened: AI got good at one specific job that used to be prohibitively expensive. Making one thing for one person.

It started in 1956
The phrase "artificial intelligence" was coined at the Dartmouth Summer Research Project in 1956. Computers filled rooms. Nobody in that room was imagining a machine that could help a seven-year-old star in her own video game.
Seventy years later the line runs from chess engines to voice assistants to image generation to personalized learning. Each step moved the technology closer to the individual person using it.

What AI actually changed about games
For most of gaming history, the economics only worked one way. You built one game, you shipped it to millions of people, and every one of them got the same hero, the same levels, the same story.
That constraint is gone.
Games can adapt to how a specific kid plays. Characters can look like the person holding the controller. A story can be built around a child's actual dog, actual hometown, actual best friend.
Instead of fitting a child into a story, you can build the story around the child. That's the whole shift.
AI doesn't replace imagination
The most common worry about AI and kids is that it does the imagining for them.
In practice it's closer to the opposite, because AI doesn't have the raw material. It doesn't know that your son has called his stuffed rabbit "Mr. Toast" since he was two. It doesn't know your daughter wants to be a marine biologist and a goalkeeper at the same time. It doesn't know the family joke about the pancake incident.
Kids and parents supply all of that. AI just shortens the distance between an idea and something you can actually play.
